How do I set the piece count?
The number on the slider is only a target. The system adjusts the cut to the image’s aspect ratio, so landscape and portrait images can end with different piece counts even at the same slider value. The longer side is cut finer. The site max is one thousand pieces.
Three common tiers
- About one hundred pieces: good for a first try; often finished in one evening.
- About three hundred pieces: good for dividing work among several people; late joiners can usually still find unfinished areas.
- One thousand pieces: for clear-outline images you plan to finish across multiple sessions.
Piece count cannot change once set
After the room starts, the piece count is fixed. If it feels wrong, go back and create a new game. If you already shared the link, changing piece count means a new room and a new link; people still on the old link stay on the old cut.
For snow, fog, water, and other similar-color images, raising piece count does not make it easier. Start with fewer pieces to learn the image, then raise it in the next game.
